i5 4670k vs i5 7600k

Hi all, so still looking at upgrading my gaming/streaming setup been looking at getting the i5 4670k or 4690k if can get one same price, but also I have been looking at the i5 7600k the new 7th gen cpu. All the cpus are the same price which is kinda why I was looking at the 7600k however as it is so new there doesnt seem to be many motherboards that are not £130 or more to support the chip. As well as doing comparisons as it is not added to the data base on cpuboss. 

So In basic question what is the best cpu to go with the 4670k 4690k or the new 7600k all i5 as there around £230 each?

Also what board is good to go with for the cpu was looking at the msi z270 board for the 7600k ideally would like to spend £60 - £80 on a board but if its best to spend a little more then what would you guys recommend.

I use it for streaming to Twitch, Youtube and hitbox as well as gaming latest titles like GTA V, battlefield, rainbow six seige.

Do not and never use gpuboss or cpuboss as comparison. Z270 and a 7600k will perform better there is no doubt

A Haswell-based system will get the job done, but if you can comfortably afford a Kabylake system then I'd say pull the trigger on that, even if it is a little more expensive. In my experience it's always best to get the latest hardware that you can comfortably afford, as it will promote longevity and relevance as time goes on. But as I stated before, a Haswell system can still be pretty ballin', you'll just be a couple generations behind and missing out on some of the new technologies that comes with each new chipset.

There is a good chance that the i7 will perform better if you are streaming and gaming. Also, the 4XXX stuff should be MUCH cheaper than the skylake stuff. Just don't buy it brand new.

 

For pure gaming, they will perform largely the same until you start going into high framerates (90+) in which case the newer 7600 would perform a little better.

ok great that was one of the reasons i looked into the i5 7600k as I thought its new and would last a long longer and as its same price as the i5 4670k then its a no brainer, it was more the cost of a motherboard compared to the 4th gen cpu. With the motherboard for overclocking what would be an ideal but not too expensive to go for as well I have a 760GTX currently a sound blaster z and avermedia capture card so would require decent pcie ports. thanks

thanks how do I know which ones are overclock able as I know linus mentioned some boards are not overclockable. As only really had AMD and my Gigabyte GA970a-DS3 board is overclockable only costed £60 2 - 3 years ago

If you have a cpu from intel ending in "k," its an overclockable chip and hence you need a overclockable motherboard, like the z170 and z270 boards.  The z270 motherboards are compatible with kaby lake out of the box so z270 with a 7000 series chip is better (for you) than a z170 mobo.

ok yea meant if there is any difference with the motherboards as In are some boards no overclockable, i knew that the K series cpus are overclockable also cost more why I was looking at them  is it mainly z series boards and what gigabyte boards would work? thanks so https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01MU4SS6O?ref_=ams_ad_dp_ttl this board would be suitable then currently out of stock. cheaper then the other board i seen.

Thats a good mobo.  Check uk.pcpartpicker.com to see if there are better deals.

I'll have a look see what they have found the i5 7600k is on offer on Amazon, also in regards to power supply would my cooler master rs-620-Asaa-a1 be fine with the board and cpu.

If you used the psu from your old system (which would be fine) and you still want the old system to run, I need to know it's specs.

not bad do prefer modeler psu but that is ideal if wanted to run the system separate, which I was thinking of using my old amd system as the dedicated streaming PC. Whether the i5 7600k would be better as both gaming and streaming pc all in one.

7600 is 8 to 10% faster clock for clock depending on the application.
