Sigma DG lenses are meant for full frame

Sigma DC lenses are meant for cropped sensor, APS-C

Sigma DN lenses are for Mirrorless

The EF to E mount adapter by Sigma is primarily meant for people to mount Sigma lenses designed for Canon bodies to be used on E mount bodies (i.e. Sony E mount cameras). It shouldn't matter if the lens is designed for full frame or cropped sensor. Of course if you mount a Sigma DC lens using that adapter on a Sony A7 series full frame, there would be serious vignetting. If you tried using a Canon brand EF lens with the Sigma adapter, it may have compatibility issues.

Well I need something for canon lenses. I don't plan to switch to sigma.

Correct. They do make APS C lenses like the 18-35 1.8. However they use the EF mount, and can be mounted on FF Canons, although with very strong vignetting.

It can work with quite a few canon lenses really well. But only the EF ones. EF S ones can be used by cutting off the extra bit of plastic used to make it EF S, but that's dangerous and will void the warranty. I've seen someone use the 55-250 using that method.

Yep, however the LA-E3 adapter is cheaper I think or at least similar in price and will not only give the option to use Sigma lenses but also all A mount lenses with a built in AF motor. So in that perspective sonys own adapter seems to make more sense to me.

Yes, a Sony to Sony adapter that's designed by Sony is probably the most certain way to avoid any compatibility issues that might pop up with third party adapters. But Sony lenses can be pricey, and if one has already invested in Canon lenses...

A mount lenses are still expensive compared to canon EF S.

Yes, as the sigma adapter can be used on quite a few canon EF glass, and some efs glass with the cut the end off trick.
