You sure that RX 480 in your signature can drive 1440p UW at good frame rate?

You know 1440p and 3440x1440 are different, right? you won't see the same performance as you do at 1440p.

yes but ultra settings and 80fps is a lot of head room

and i will run 1440p UW in vsr framerate- 5% buffer for not runnin true resolution see what i get when it updates the game

Not really, 3440x1440 is more pixels, you will see a drop and as we've said the only brand name monitors with 3440x1440 are just over £500 unless its a Korean panel.

Plus going from 1440p 16:9 to 21:9 won't affect the performance by more than 10 to 15% in most cases.

Here is how UW do with a 1070. I picked less demanding game to have a look atNVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-1070-Tom-Clancys-Rainbow-Six-Siege-3440x1440.png

Yes it will, 3440x1440 is approximately 30% more pixels.

@Coombzy

I stated there would be a drop in framerate. Yes it is about 34.375% more pixels to power, but that doesn't translate to a 34.375% drop in framerate. AMD cards tend to handle higher resolutions very well relative to their performance at 1080p. Look it up.

I would look at benchmarks to see for yourself, from 1440 most people saw a drop of around 20-30 FPS this being with an RX 480.

What in Dota 2?

When I switch from regular to ultrawide (both 1080p) the performance drop I incurred was about 10 to 15%, just like I said in my post. I figured it would would be a similar hit in performance with 1440p since the ratio of increased pixels used is almost identical in both scenarios. That being said I dont run 1440p resolution, so I can't say for sure with this setup. However, framerates for 4k aren't x4 times lower than 1080p. The logic you are using would suggest that would be the case, but it's not. Framerates are about 0.35 to 0.4 times as fast at 4k compard to 1080p instead of 0.25 times as fast.

Dota is made on Source, Source is extremely optimised and wouldn't see the same impact as Battlefield 1 or any new AAA game with higher quality visuals.

Yes, you are fine. 4k requires a lot more pixels than 3440x1440. Look up benchmarks to be certain (4k =8,294,400 pixels, 1440p ultrawide = 4,053,600 pixels).

That's not  my point. I was suggesting a game that you'll get upwards of 200 fps would see a 30 fps drop. I was trying to be a smartass but I didn't considered the engine running the game.:S
