I was wondering what's a very good CPU temp while playing GTA V under full load

I have a i7 7700 and a 280mm Corsair H115I watercooler and I've angled the tubes at a certain angle for more efficient cooling

Is 37c playing GTA V a good temp? I'm also using Arctic thermal paste

Yes that is normal.

Why?

Because it should be higher. It means the CPU is throttling. The i7-7700 doesn't have immensly great thermal dissipation to the lid, and the H115 isn't a miracle worker either.

Should probably level out at 45-50 ish.

Can you explain why it should be higher? I've been playing GTA V now for about an hour and it never goes above 40c, max was 38c, how can that be a bad thing?

Because GTA 5 is CPU intensive and those temperatures are what you'd expect from a delidded chip. If you're not just making up the numbers, it means the CPU isn't running at it's maximum frequency.

Or you're running low settings or with a crappy GPU <40 fps.

uhm I have a 6700k with 4,7ghz and a H110 and I never get above 55.

Sounds right to me.

basically your cpu will be fine at the temp but the reason it is so low might be because you cpu is not running at it's full clock speed if your happy with the quality then everything is fine but you probably could turn up some of the setting if you want.

That's super low under GTA V.

Think the basic idea is that you could get more out of your cpu.

Mate i delid my chips with liquid metal, and lap the lids. You don't run a fucking stock chip at 55 degrees max during 100% loads, especially not something like prime95.

You just chose the wrong person to throw bullshit at.

child chill out he said he was playing gta 5 not running a benchmark he might have turned down his settings because of his gpu and is not running at full clock speeds

If you do then you should know that the temps required for liquid metal would kill your chip if arking the whole die with liquid metal hasn't
