Raspberry Pi arcade

So this is my first DIY project. I have currently cut out the side panels with a router, and have purchased sanwa joysticks, and suzo happ buttons.

Any tips for a first time builder?

what brand of router did you use? netgear? tplink?

Main PC
CPU: i3-4160. RAM: 2x4GB Kingston ValueRam. GPU: Asus GTX750Ti OC 2GB (Palit StormOC 750Ti Bios). CPU Cooler: CoolerMaster Hyper 212X.
MoBo: Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3. Storage: 1x Samsung 840 Evo. RAID 0: WD Scorpio Blue 500GB, WD Caviar Blue 500GB. PSU: Corsair CX500M.
Network: some TP-Link card that doesnt support 5.0Ghz. Case: Casecom Neptune CP-626 (the cooler doesnt fit so the side panel stays off).
Mouse: Logitech G430. Headphones: Sennheiser RS195. Keyboard: Lenovo KU0225. OS: Windows 10 Pro

Ι think it was bosch. It was a super old one that belonged to my grandpa. It was green.

Oh yeah. I thought about keeping it strictly to MAME, but while growing up, I never had the opportunity to play on consoles like N64, NES, SNES, and so forth, so it's going to be a general emulation station, using RETROPIE.

i wanted to do one but limited time and resources held me back and fully built kits are out there

I'm actually basing my design roughly on iliketomakestuff's bartop arcade.

However, I found a design that also has a hidden drawer for a keyboard, and it fits a slightly bigger monitor.

nice gotta get those retro CRT screens if you want the full arcade feeling

I can't find any near by (I live in Greece), so I'm going with either an old 4:3 monitor, or a newer 16:10 monitor.

4:3 are the best bet for monitors

 

a lot of retro games running on the wide screen look weird

I know. What I will do if I get a wide screen monitor, is run them on their native resolutions, and just have black bars on the side.
