USB Wifi in the Kbps

I understand that I can't expect phenomenal wifi from something like this (here) but it advertises a speed of 150 mbps and I am currently getting sends of ~50Kbps and receives of 3Mbps. Is this something to be expected from something so cheap or should I be doing something different? Please note this is a temporary solution and I plan to upgrade when I have the money.

have you installed the driver for it? Those small adapters generally have  poor range, so try to stay as close to the wifi access point as you can
