Will this gpu work with my pc?

Until I get my new pc I am using a pc my dad used for work and I was looking to put a gpu in it. It has a 300w PSU with a Pentium G2030 3.0GHZ and a Gigabyte GAH61MDS2 DVI motherboard. I was wondering if this pc would be able to handle a gpu my friend will give me which is a AMD r9 290 4GB

It won't work with your PSU, 300w is too little, this Graphics Card requires at least a 550w power supply unit.

It won't work. 

Your shopping list should be a 550+ watt power supply of good quality, an LGA1155 Core i5 or i7 CPU, and as much RAM as you need to get up to 8GB. Get the Power Supply new and the CPU and RAM used.
