only X99 AFAIK, is there an X97 one? i know there is Z97 but its an LGA2011 chip and that socked belongs with X99

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

nope the x97 chipset has a lga2011 socket i was just wondering if the x99 chipset is backwards compatible b/c there arent and reasonably priced x97 mobos

There is no x97. Only X79 and z97. And if it's e5 2670 then it'll only work with x79 AFAIK. I don't think it'll work with x99 unless it's v3 or v4.

forgot about the V3 and V4 thing at first too, if its not atleast LGA 2011V3 its not going to work with X99
