whats the difference

Freddy

Hey so I am in the process of buying parts for my new build and I was looking at ssd. I kinda had my eyes set on the HyperX Savage 240GB ssd as it fits my build color. but I see they have a sale on the Corsair Force Series LE 480GB the difference makes up 10€. Is this a case of buy the corsair or your stupid, or is it more to it than that. the Hyper x has bit better read and write speed with 560/530 and the corsair has 550/500.

The Hyper X has faster 4K read speeds, which is what really matters.  If the 480GB thing wasn't a typo, then you should get that one.  It's still reasonably fast for double the storage.

What does 4k read speeds mean, is that for 4k resolution stuff, and if I am only running 2k will it even matter?

No, it's how fast it can read incredibly tiny files (like 4KB ones).  Most programs (and Windows itself) use small files constantly.  That's why an NVMe drive is a total waste for most people, despite popular opinion.  It will read and write large files lightning fast, but with tiny files there is a minimal difference, even though it's twice as expensive.

Between those two drives?  Not really.  I looked up benchmarks on them, and the Corsair read 4K files at around 27MB/s while the Kingston one read at around 30MB/s.  Get the Corsair one for double the storage.
