So I ended up with an extra quad core pentium/celeron from my UnRaid nas build... I figured I'll take a shot at trying out PfSense... right now I have 2 Node 304s, but a node 304 seems too large for a router.

Do you guys have any recommendation on small thin cases with a PCI-E slot + recommendation on a power supply (pico?) It is a 10w cpu, 2 sticks of ram, and 1 ssd. The NIC has both the full height and half height bracket.

why do you need a pci-e slot?

i have being looking at running  PfSense on an intel nuc there very small if you dont know of them much smaller then a node 304s

you should need much power less then 100 watts if your open to getting another case you can get some very small cases that have small power supply or external power supply

because I have an extra motherboard/cpu already (10w cpu), which only has 1 realtek gigabit port... I bought a dual intel nic....

and since node 304s are "large" I am asking for for case recommendations and small psu (external) recommendations... I wouldn't be asking for recommendations if I wasn't open to another case... just need some direction on which cases and psus

no worries! thanks

I have another (new architecture) board/10w cpu running Unraid, I do want to mess with more stuff, but that is for the future.

SilverStone Black Precision Series PS09 Case

Although it a bit large it cheapest one that has noise dampening built in. 48 AUD probs cheaper in the states.

tad large for my taste, seems all the super thin itx cases don't even have a half height expansion slot.

thinking about a imagic pi case.... Always wanted to try one of those "mac pro" look alike cases. although silverstone does have some tempting offerings.. but no half height slot
