Well you need memory that's the same DDR generation as whatever you want to use it in. If it's DDR3 and the new laptop uses DDR3, sure. But if it's an old laptop, it might be DDR2 or even older which is not usable with modern components.

 

If you give me the specs of both laptops I can just tell you yes or no, but that's the general rule.

Hmmm.. the new one is running on a DDR3L RAM I dunno what the old one is.. gonna have to figure that out I suppose :3
