Saw that on YouTube. I was just wanting it so bad. It would make a great desk piece. Wonder what folding on it is like? Probably pretty bad, depends on its compute power.

I have a question.

How well does it run XBMC?

I'm tossing up between the Pi, Intel NUC, Gigabyte Brix, or mini-itx

Well, it can handle data throughput fine as they make a great NAS with a few USB HDD's and can playback 1080p fluidly over a network. So cheap and cheerful, probably the Pi! :P

I use mine just to hack around with as a headless server and ssh to it.

I've used it for testing https post scripts, testing sftp scripts and webserver, stuff like that

The flash card went out on me though (was a micro in an adapter) and had to reimage the OS on a new one.

I'm glad this thread arose, I need more ideas for it.

edit: I don't have a case on mine.  I simply have mine hidden on a shelf behind a router.  It never moves and I just leave it on all the time and connected by ethernet.   I didn't want to double the cost of it by buying a case too.

Haha, nice. Good example of a testing machine, so you don't f***-up your main machine! :P

Spotted a nice opaque CNC layer case on amazon for around £4. Done. xD

The folding power would be around a 8150 @ stock also a NAS with it would be slow as hell.

Not bad... considering they are all just low power ARM chips.

Also, why would it be slow. USB 2 being the bottleneck and possibly the ARM's limitations, but as long as you don't use NTFS you should be golden. Especially for the price.

Looks awesome.

Interesting, although still slightly confused as to what DNS mirroring is after a quick Google. I know what DNS is already, but not heard of it used in conjunction with mirroring.

We run a wireless network over the better part of my city. The aim of these 'WugPi's' is to lower the number of hops needed to reach the DNS server.

Example:

For a little more than the price of a Pi there is the Beaglebone Black.  I think it has a more powerful processor and maybe other things

http://beagleboard.org/Products/BeagleBone

compare the beaglebone with the pi

The BeagleBone Black has more powerful CPU but the GPU is not as powerful as the RasPi so if your running a web server than the BeagleBone is a much better choice.

I have a question.

How well does it run XBMC?

I'm tossing up between the Pi, Intel NUC, Gigabyte Brix, or mini-itx

If I were you, I would get a Celeron Intel NUC. I have heard Pi doesn't do 1080p streaming well.

I second that, get the Celeron NUC. RasPi doesn't play well with high bit-rate video.
