they usually do (not gonna say that as a reassurance, because you're never really sure about chinese stuff) but they feed your GPU with so little bandwidth they're essentially a guaranteed bottleneck on anything better than like some GT640 :P

seems like a good idea for if you need multiple monitors

They probably work, but keep in mind that the miniPCIe has only ONE pci express lane, which means maximum 500 MB/s in both directions for PCIe 2.0 or almost 1 GB/s for PCIe 3.0

This will be a serious bottleneck for higher end cards, the maximum fps will be quite limited.

The razer solution uses more pci-e lanes and higher throughput, uses more expensive cable between laptop and external case etc.

ehh.. there's better solutions, this is a terrible, terrible bodge that essentially turns a laptop into some frankenstein bodge that's rotting away in front of you.

yea and I bet for most laptops this would mean sacraficing wifi

ah mine is holding the hard drive in with blu tac, the laptop is so old the cpu is still in a socket and not soldired

that's not old, that's a well made laptop.
