Trying to improve my posture, but game performance suffering.

Okjoek

So I changed my setup so I'm not reaching up to my keyboard and I'm not putting pressure on my arm and wrist because I've removed the arm rest and began not allowing my hand to touch the mouse pad. I think it's helping because I was worried I would get carpal tunnel or something and I do feel better, but my gaming performance has been tanking.

So I play Planetside 2 which is a first person shooter right? So I'm no longer able to make good head shots because I'm used to the pivot being my wrist grounded behind the mouse, but now without my wrist on the mat and elbow on the arm rest I can't aim correctly. I've basically moved to doing other things in the game like building player made bases, vehicle gunning, mine-laying and hardscope stationary sniping against less mobile targets.

Should I give up on the sort of infantry combat gameplay altogether? Because IDK how to get the performance back without hurting my body.

I staret playing with an orbweaver some weeks ago. Got it as a present from my GF.
You just need time to get used to new equipment. Same thing with new positioning of said equipment. Just take ur time at practicing with it. U will need some weeks, but u will get back to ur old skill level.

Unless your hand is in a very odd-ball position and you don't spend half a day playing, you shouldn't really be worried about carpal tunnel.

My work involves at least 8 hours of sitting in front of a computer and after I get off I go home where I spend at least another 5-6 hours in front of a computer. So far so good and nothing past the occasional numb hand (due to my desk being way too small for me to have a proper hand position).

Well I live in a rural area and unless I've got work to do I'm on my PC making friends in games or on forums like this.

Yeah but how old are you? Carpel tunnel will only show up later in life.
