I put together some parts laying around and scavenged what I could. This is what I have:

CPU: Core 2 Quad 9300

Mobo: (Some OEM board :P) Acer G43-AT

GPU: EVGA 660ti 2GB SC

PSU: Rosewill 750w Capestone

Case: NZXT 210 Source

CPU cooler: CM Seidon 120v

So if I were to get an 120GB SSD could I load windows 10 onto the rig? I know there probably isn't any driver support for the components since it's win. 10 and not win. 7

Thanks! :)

GAMING RIG:

CPU: i9-14900k

MOBO: Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX

RAM: 64GB G.Skill Ripjaws S5 @ 6000MHz

GPU: Gigabyte Gaming OC ICE 16GB 9070XT

STORAGE: Crucial 1TB NVME (Boot Drive) / 2TB Crucial NVME / 4TB 990 EVO Pro NVME SSD

CASE: Dimas Tech EasyBench V3.0

It should install no problem. But, like you mentioned, drivers might be an issue. Particularly with your on-board stuff like networking and sound. The 660Ti has updated drivers for Windows 10 so that'll be no problem.

1 GB is only for the 32 bit version. 2 GB if you want the 64 bit. It all is based on what you plan to install.

No, you can run 64 bit with 1 gb of ram; idk why microsoft put that as an requirement.. but it's wrong and misleading

Drivers might be a non issue considering the age of the motherboard as there might be drivers included in the OS, or there might still be compatible drivers from the individual component manufacturers.

You never know because with OEM boards, it's fairly unlikely they would roll out driver updates for the next few releases of Windows. A machine with a Core 2 Quad most likely came with Windows Vista or at most Windows 7. For Acer to release Windows 10 drivers for a machine that old is unlikely. My IdeaPad came shipped with Windows 8 and even that does not have drivers updated for Windows 10. Not to mention drivers included in the OS are not guaranteed to even include the basics like an Ethernet driver or a proper display driver.

I was actually referring to the companies that create the chipsets like intel, realtek and the like who would most likely have compatible drivers even if acer or any OEM manufacturer doesn't bother with driver support for old systems (and in some cases, older windows drivers will still work with windows 10)
