btw, the above thing was just a joke, hopefully didn't piss you off. All in good fun. I've been learning HTML for the last 45 minutes, and I got up to building a website. Before i go into huge detail, is code academy a good way to learn programming?

Thanks,

Personally I find W3Schools a better resource. Depends on how in-depth you want to get with your coding, really.

Depends on what language.

Books from the library are still the best way IMO.

All the libraries I've been to pretty much only have older outdated books.

Depending on the language, for beginner tutorials youtube is a pretty good place. Just make sure it's from someone that knows what they're doing and not some 12 year old kid.

I mean by no means is Codeacademy bad. It has taught you how to write HTML right? Finish all the lessons and you will learn some good stuff. Then from there may be get a more advanced book and continue.

Codeacademy is good I just took some lessons in there and finish the HTML and CSS lesson now continuing to javascript. but w3schools is still the best resource I think. after doing some lesson at codeacademy I will go to w3school to learn more. codeacademy has a very visual and easy to understand lessons. you can learn there for basic understanding and go to w3school for a better foundation.

I found codeacademy to be a very intuitive way to learn the basics of programming. Especially if you're just starting out. You're obviously not going to learn enough, but enough to get you started.

You'll have to learn the biggest part for yourself by just messing around, but as i said, codeacademy is a great way to start.
