Windows update keeps eating at my CPU usage

This is getting ridiculous. I keep having to close the windows update thing because the usage is insane. I turned off all automatic checking for updates but it still randomly opens. Any solution?

 

I'm using 8.1

I just disable automatic updates. Whenever I need to update Windows I just download the updates then.

I did disable it but it didn't help

It still uses that much CPU when automatic updates are off? That's very odd. I have the same problem but my CPU usage is at only 3 percent. I'm not sure how to fix that but I will do some research,

Yeah it's bizarre lol. My CPU is a 3570k if that helps.

Have you installed all the recent major updates? There could be something big preparing to install that's taking a bunch of CPU.

 

Edit: you might try resetting the Windows update cache, I've had it fix a lot of wierd update problems.
