Buzzing noise

hey all, 

when talking to people on Skype/team-speak the people on the receiving end are hearing a buzzing noise coming from me and it gets louder if I mute myself this also occurs if I record and play back I will hear this noise, I was wondering if any one knew why. PS I am using on board sound card from my mother board. PPS it isn't background noise. thanks for the help.

I assume you're using a headset?

Stop using headsets.

Sure it does. Headsets break all the time, at alarming rates.

 

Plug whatever you are using into the back of the motherboard, it might help. If not, good luck.

Sounds like a dodgy earth in your headset, does it get worse if you mute the mic in the windows audio settings too or only when you push the mute button on the headset?

Don't know what to tell you - by all indications to me, your headset is broke/faulty which is very typical.

Your microphone may have a short.
