AOC Monitor

Bruno_A

Hey guys, I recently bought an AOC 1080p monitor and watched some unboxing videos of it and noticed there's different versions of the product, some have HDMI, some don't and some only have VGA, so, if I'm getting the version with the VGA port only, what can I do? I'm going to connect it to a GTX 660. I know that there's HDMI to VGA adapters, but are those the same as an HDMI to HDMI connection? I mean, is there any loss of "signal" or color, etc? Here's my monitor: AOC E2270SWN.

Many thanks, Bruno.

I don't think VGA can push 1080p 60hz...  VGA is an analog signal so you'd need an active HDMI converter.

analog signals usually cant carry the same kind of color information as a digital signal, thats usually the only real downside of using it.

if anything since its a TN panel you wouldnt be missing out on much- you can always tweak the color setting on the monitor to suit your preference

can you still return the monitor?

Wrong. VGA is able to do 1080P 60Hz. It becomes blurry though.

To the OP. I would not go the route of HDMI to VGA. The adapters have been known to be really bad, and most times for me straight up don't work. According to the AOC site, that model is VGA only. I would chose a different monitor. Are you able to switch it out?

I purchased the monitor in a 20% sale, and just contacted the shop and there's no way they'll change my order without losing the 20% off...
