I'm looking for some advice for a new build for a friend. His budget is around 1000-1200 euro, he likes to do a bit of editing, gaming on a 1920x1080 monitor (which he already has) is something he loves. He also has a keyboard, mouse and headset, so we are looking for complete build + 200 euro for a case he likes to buy (probably a midtower, so if you have any suggestions you can add them too).

Thanks in advance!

Just wondering why you went with a Xeon but the rest is nice!

Looks nice, but why not 1600MHz RAM? And I prefer 600W just in case he wants to upgrade later on.

It is just a locked i5 with hyperthreading and no igpu. Better performance for $25 more (at least that is how it is in america). The aftermarket cooler is just to keep things cool and quiet.

1600hmz and 600w would only increase the cost even more and wouldn't increase any performance.

Do you need a copy of Windows?

Programs being used to edit? Type of content being worked on?

Where are you shopping?

No need for OS, also no need for programs... Mostly GoPro-videos editing but I don't know exactly what he is going to do with it.

Shopping by www.azerty.nl

Not exactly old machine, he can fix something with his school or something like that ;)

In that case, my recommendations:

http://azerty.nl/winkelmandje/winkelmandje/?legen=1&product%5B563659%5D=1&product%5B478347%5D=1&product%5B397470%5D=1&product%5B566985%5D=1&product%5B455750%5D=1&product%5B618585%5D=1&product%5B649574%5D=1&product%5B556542%5D=1&product%5B398419%5D=1

It should be plenty powerful for his needs.

That's a cool build, however you can raise the price up if you want to: money is not his problem as long as it is not over 1200 euro ;)

Looks good but do you need a sshd when you get a ssd? Also I would get something like a fractal r4 of fractal arc midi r2 for the case, but that's personal preference.

current system:  i5 2500k @4.5ghz cooled by antec 620 - asrock z77 extreme 4 - 8gb corsair RAM - MSI Twin Frorz 7950 in crossfire - XFX 850w  - Fractal design R4 - samsung 840 120gb ssd - 500gb wd blue hdd - 1440p korean qnix monitor (love it!)

I've seen the review and test on that 500GB SSHD, and it is faster/better than the WD Velociraptors, he doesn't need that much space so it is the perfect choice I guess. Also, I added a midrange priceclasse case so if he wants another one then he can choose any case he likes.

Nope. A ssd + hdd would be better than just a sshd.

That's a cool build, however you can raise the price up if you want to: money is not his problem as long as it is not over 1200 euro ;)

Then just put a 780 in there: http://azerty.nl/winkelmandje/winkelmandje/?legen=1&product%5B563659%5D=1&product%5B478347%5D=1&product%5B397470%5D=1&product%5B566985%5D=1&product%5B455750%5D=1&product%5B618585%5D=1&product%5B649574%5D=1&product%5B398419%5D=1&product%5B631760%5D=1

By now, there's little point in spending more--you wouldn't be getting much more performance.

But it's SSD + SSHD?

Anything that woudl benefit from being on a sshd would be better off on a ssd.

I'm just wondering, not seeking to argue, but the SSHD has 500GB and if I remembered it right, SSD's are not optimal to put constantly put data on it and off it again so I thought that maybe SSHD is the best solution because it is faster than a HDD but still is very suited for storing data.

Correct me if I'm wrong!
