Exotic cooling probelms

Hello everybody

I'm new to this topic so please bear with me.I'm planning to upgrade to a dual Titan XP SLI + 7700K (due to high single thread performance) and I'm planning to over clock them (I know it is a super over kill system but I'm going for it anyways). As you might have guessed the thermals will become a bit of problem as both GPUs and CPU kick out a ton of heat so I was looking for a solution to cool everything using a single loop and achieve exceptional thermals(maximum of 50 degrees Celsius) . A while ago I've seen this video on YouTube which was not very practical:

I had an idea to use a phase change cooler ( for example a fridge ) to achieve even lower temps of liquid(around -30 degrees Celsius) like an industrial water chilled system.On a test loop I used glass tubing (so I could use antifreeze )and used fittings instead of bends.I also added some anti corrosion and algae inhibitors to the mixture.After running it for a while one of my main concerns became condensation.How can I stop the condensation without sacrificing the looks(I don't wanna insulate the tubes)? Can I use silica gel in front of the intake fans?(I will have 4 140mm AF fans for intake and 4 120 SP fans on the radiator of the phase change cooler to maintain positive air pressure)

P.S.I have a plan if everything else fails: Using another phase change cooler to freeze off the moisture on intake and let it defrost when the PC is off but it will become too loud,too inefficient and not very desirable.

Size and cost are not important in this case,I want to keep two things: Performance and Looks.I will be glad to hear your advise.

Just make a custom loop. You don't need complex things like phase change for 50C.

Just keeping this here as a 70C on a custom loop? That seems mighty high even for the Titan XP.

Yeah I get that but I think if you would use a 3x 120mm or a 3x 140mm radiator you can run everything of that and if money is not a problem then place two of them in it.

I think going sub-zero is really not worth the risk. and the looks will be less good than normal water-cooling there will be no way you can use phase change cooling without compromising the looks of a hard-tubes system.

I just had a crazy idea,What if I install the mother board with a 45 degree angle (facing downwards) so even If condensation is formed it will only drip to the bottom of the case where I can have absorbent materials.I can get a custom case pretty fast from protcase.It may look a bit weird but should do the trick.Can that cause problems or is it fine to orient the motherboard in an angel?

Or you can go with an SMA8 from Caselabs and stick a 560mm rad + 280mm rad on the bottom for the GPU loop and a 480mm rad on top for the CPU loop, like JayzTwoCents did and his temps are great, even under load.

Trying to see what I can dig up but not sure if he ever did a temp benchmark on the latest version. I know with the last build (v3) he was seeing somewhere around 60C on the GPU loop with 3x GPUs and maybe 40-ish on the CPU loop but can't remember for sure. I'll let you know if I can find something more solid.

remember, you are dealing with thermal transfer and the time to saturate each surface with either a heat/cool contact.

then transferring that temperature of the coolant into the heat exchanger (radiator).

 

it'll take extreme thermal differences to make the device colder. even with LN2/DIx cooling, the device still has a temperature greater than the cooling media.

Only reason a card would be that hot on water is the loop being poorly planned or low fan speed with a poor build.

He was using an H100 I which is a very famous and good AIO cooler on just CPU and reached 60-70C,he just removed the fans and used 0C ice bath instead of the fans which actually improved thermals by about 20C.One titan X on it's own using a triple rad reaches 50C, Two titan X will reach 70C, Two titan X + CPU reaches god knows what.

The loop will have fresh intake for each GPU and CPU but the overall temperature difference and wattage of dissipated heat is not enough to keep all of them at lower temps.The colder the coolant,the faster heat transfer and therefore better cooling performance.

Never seen those temps myself or in any video. Like I said with low fan speeds or not enough rad area sure.

 

Ice on a crappy aio is good for a benchmark but horrible for practicality.

Fans are Corsair SP120 (5 total)

Rads are XPSC 

360 front rad, fans pushing in to case

240 top rad, fans pushing in to case

Corsair 140mm rear exhaust

lower vents open

 

fans are on a speed controller and normally set to 50% when benching.
