An IoT hub doesn't need a flippin xeon xD

A Pi is plenty.

And what are you planing to do with the NAS?

Usually a cheap atom/celeron is more than enough.

This will chew power. Get ready for 20+ more a month in power.

Why not just buy this

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-PowerEdge-2950-2x-2-00GHz-Quad-Core-Xeon-32gb-2x-300gb-DVD-/381913590985?hash=item58ebd2ecc9:g:ryIAAOSwImRYb5X6

cheaper and faster

Also, don't get a wifi card for a server, use wired.

look around ebay and craigs list, normally cheaper.

Also you get drives, a case, heatsinks, a raid card, drac, and lots of other goodies.

lol its realllly cheap

True, and as @Electronics Wizardy said, the powerbill won't be cheap...

Power consumption really is a big deal when you are planning to run a system 24/7.

Especially older parts like the cpu you mentioned aren't exactly power efficient during idle.

I mean the power would not be to bad assuming that it isn't running full load 24/7   That was wrong it would be about 20ish a month as stated above.

I have one, its about 250w idle without drives and about 350 under load. These are hot.

I take back my statement just did a some calculations at it would add about 18.5ish bucks of power a month.
