Sata Data Y-Cable

Hello guys,

My question is very simple, is there a shop out there where I can buy a SATA Data Y-cable?

Just to stop you guys from telling me, that I can't connect two drives to one SATA port on my mainboard, I have to tell you, that I know that. I do not want to connect 2 drives to one SATA port or the other way around.

For the project I am working on, I need to access one drive for 2 different devices, but not at the same time. I just want to use the drive with the one device, when the other one is turned of without switching the cable.

I don't think it exists because A: it would cause a lot of confusion because it's not designed to work like that and B: you are probably one of the very very few people that need such thing.

 

I do however have some alternatives:

Hot-swap bays, just move the HDD between bays if you have to.

Network share, attach the drive to your network on one of the pc's or a seperate dedicated pc and use network shares to get to it.

Apart from that, don't really know any decent alternatives...

there are external HDD cases that have eSATA and USB - maybe that works for you ?

If you wnat to swap the systems, id probably suggest building your own by using some switches or relays.

 

Otherwise, how about network storage?
