So, I'm currently looking around at parts for a new gaming computer. I currently have a 3-year-old HP laptop and a 8ish-year-old server machine as my desktop.

Budget:

My budget is around 800-850 USD, and its already at the high end of my budget.

Gaming:

I'd love to be able to play new AAA games. From my research, most new games today my planned system can hit at least 80fps. I have 2 Dell E2414H 's at 60Hz (also monitors are 1080p), and probably going to be adding a spare monitor to the setup also.

Uses:

Sothis build will be used for gaming. From my research of other people with the same type of system as mine, they can easily play with Ultra/high settings on many games, even the new AAA games.

Overclocking:

I plan on OC'ing my CPU to about 4.44GHz (please recommend me on what to try for with my cooler) and I'll see if I can OC my GPU (would like to).

The Build:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WvMKNN

I have a local Microcenter, so that's where I'm probably getting most parts from, like the CPU. Microcenter price matching FTW!

Recommendations from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. this "template" was stolen from someone else's thread which I saw. I'm sorry <3

Yeah. Its a good price too. Also add an SSD

Forgot to add the SSD to the pcpartpicker, I have a cheap 512 I got a while ago that I'm using in my laptop. I don't use my laptop much, so I'll downgrade it until buy a new one. And also, thanks for the suggestion about the 620W, I'll add it.

My microcenter doesn't have any open box for i5 6600k, it would probably be recommended to buy both mobo & cpu at micro because of the $30 off right?

Depends, yes it can be but the Asrock Extreme4 for example is a $150 motherboard I got for $65 off. Plus, I did a $20 MIR. It got lost in the male and I contacted Asrock about it, I just need to send the form in again with S/N so in reality I paid $65 for an Extreme4 which is much better then the $30 off deal I was going to get by getting an Asrock Pro4

Also, since you've used Microcenter, have you bought the warranty the offer? Or would you suggest me buying any warranty on any of the components?

I have not but the way the guy explained it was very confusing. The way he made it sound is that if I got the warranty, they would replace my CPU and give me a gift card for the price of my CPU to use in-store but I don't think that's what he meant.

I didn't get it because he said Intel didn't offer a warranty then I pointed at the box and said "tf is this 2-year warranty on the box then? A scam? A lie?"

I should chime in with a build. Your budget is pretty large for a 1080p box, so let's pack it full of premium features, and do a GPU a bit more powerful than the usual choice of 480 or 1060.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($189.88 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: ASRock H170A-X1/3.1 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($79.99 @ NCIX US)
Memory: Team Dark 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory  ($69.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: SK hynix SL308 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($77.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($48.60 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 Fury 4GB NITRO Video Card  ($259.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Phanteks ECLIPSE P400 ATX Mid Tower Case  ($59.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Rosewill 550W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($74.99 @ Newegg Marketplace)
Total: $861.42

Ough, dropping me down from the 6600k. + I already have storage taken care of so that I'll pass on. I'll take a look at the memory, seems cheap xD. I also wanted to stick with a mATX.

Edit: Looking at the ram a bit more, I'll switch to it. Lower latency & I won't be using many programs that will utilize the 266 boost that the other, most expensive ram has.

Cool, I'll trust you to get the CPU and Motherboard combo at a Microcenter, and since you have storage sorted, throw in some really fast RAM because it matters for games.

Would it be worth it to keep with my cheaper CPU cooler until I can afford a nice water cooling one? & I swapped in that ram
