Getting rid of the Windows 7 Aero Performance Pop-up

Torand

Are you?

- In a game and then get ejected just to find that Windows 7 is trying to improve performance by disabling Aero?

- Shout at Windows 7 as you have a beastly rig and how dare it question its performance?

- A fist now through your screen and wallet crying?

LOOK NO FURTHER!

Simply:

- Open the start menu and search for "Action Center".

- On the left pane, click on "Change Action Center settings"

- Un-check the box "Windows troubleshooting" and hit OK.

- Reboot?

- ???

- PROFIT! :D

Now jimmy, get back to destroying those noobs in peace.  B)

You only posted yesterday?

I've known about this method of fixing it (which it does not) for a while.

Right Click the game shortcut/exe

Compatability tab,

Disable desktop composition

Apon loading, it will go into basic mode automatically and when you exit the game, back to normal Aero.

Meaning the effect of it alt tabbing and changing you to basic no longer happens as it goes to basic before it creates the client window ie:> Before you load your game, so it has NOTHING to switch to, so it doesn't bother you at all.

I first had this issue with BF3, applied no DC to the exe and it never bothered me again.

Doing it for one game does not do it for all.

Works!

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

  • 3 weeks later...

Yeah I've tried this "fix" a few times (with reboots), but it still pops up.

Might have to try the Compatibility settings next time I'm home.
