So whenever im playing total war warhammer and i advance in the campaign im getting this weird gpu usage and power draw fluctiation , is this normal or just the game being unoptimized ?  ( also the gpu has a coil whine and the coil whine syncs up with the in-game stutter during the campaign map , i'm playing at 1440p and experience severe fps drops

Pascal rarely uses all the voltage avaliable,  but you look to have a CPU issue. Which do you have?

a stock 2600 , but cpu usage never goes above 60%

Doesn't have to. I had problems with my old i5 with that usage.

doubt it's my cpu though , i haven't had any indications that it's the cpu that's bottlenecking other than on this game

Hear that at least once a day, then you watch the CPU utilization and it's the CPU.

Watch your utilization.

i mean i'm no expert but i think it looks fine

You have spikes to 100% and hover around 70. That's enough to cause issues. Modern games love threads, and Sandy Bridge is showing its age.

So sorry. But there's good news. Ryzen should be launching soon and will drop prices. Perfect time to update.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

No worries mate. You have a great card so the update so you'll get the most out of the update.

I'd stay away from Kabylake. Just my opinion but it's not worth it. So fingers crossed for Ryzen.

yeah from what i've seen so far its just a minute performance gain over skylake , if Ryzen fails to live up to the hype i really hope skylake prices drop with the addition of kaby lake .
