Im buying bf1 in a few hours... and i have a feeling that it wont go all that smooth with my pc that is running 7870 from amd and i5 3570K from intel ( i havent yet overclocked it because of thermal limitations , using stock cooler ). Also i only have 2x4 gigs of ram which i can find to be a slight bottleneck too.

What to upgrade first ( in most of the intense games that are not bf1 my gpu usage is 100% and cpu is around 80-85% ... should i just get a new gpu, get better cpu cooler and stay like that until zen comes out, because i dont want to upgrade ram now if its ddr3 i will have to upgrade that once again if i switch cpu

GPU: GTX 1060 6GB

RAM: 16GB HyperX RAM

CPU: R5 3600

Motherboard: ASRock B450 Fatal1ty gaming K4

OS: Win 11 Pro 64-bit

Budget? An i5 will be fine, it shouldn't be a major issue for BF1. It wouldn't be a bad idea to upgrade the 7870 eventually, although it does pass minimum specs fine (Dont expect to max it out though).

Edit: From what I can find, you should be able to run it at med no problem with only occasional dips below 60. If you really want to improve performance, you could also buy a cheap aftermarket cooler and do a little overclocking (Same with GPU).

I was planning on playing it on max or at least close to max, of course not with this system but once i get rx 480 and hopefully overclock my i5 do you think i will be able to play close to max settings

Read my edit, but probably not without upgrading your GPU.

3570k is fine for bf1, you won't see a huge difference by upgrading it.

7870 won't stop you playing, but definitely worth upgrading at some point in near future if you're wanting to play mostly ultra.

I would say the biggest issue you'll have is RAM, a lot of people are complaining of issues with 8gb. Ram is reasonably cheap at the moment so I personally would make that my priority. I wouldn't worry about upgrading your current CPU platform, my other pc handles pretty much every game at 1080p max (most of the time)

If you're on a budget, get a cheap CPU cooler, like a CoolerMaster 212 Evo, and then overclock the i5 3570k. Next, get a new GPU - but wait for Vega to release, to see what it offers, and also to have it maybe drop the prices on Nvidia cards a bit.

An RX 480 won't have problems achieving 60 FPS at 1080p with max or near-max settings. But an i5-3570K will almost certainly hit close to 100% on all cores at or below 60 FPS in 64-man servers, though, and graphics options probably won't help that because I think it's coming from the ramped up physics/destruction system. It's an unusually CPU-sensitive game, especially on quad-cores.

I've got an i5-6600K overclocked to 4.5 GHz, and with vsync on my CPU is at 90%+ on all cores most of the time in that game. I don't really have any issues dropping below 60 FPS or with any noticeable stuttering, but with an i5 two generations older, you might. I'd recommend overclocking as much as you responsibly can.

For any other game out there I really don't think you'd have any issues with a 3570K, though. BF1 is a bit "special" in that regard. If you want to upgrade, I think you're certainly fine to wait for Zen or Kaby Lake reviews to come out.
