i currently run 16.9.2 , i reccomend a 20~30% powerlimit buff and try 1080mhz , thats where my reference blower card peaks

Yeah, overclock the crap out of 2 cores on your processor, and get the GPU memory clock up further.  The Unigine benches LOVE GPU memory overclock.

CPU: Ryzen 1600X @ 4.15ghz  MB: ASUS Crosshair VI Mem: 32GB GSkill TridenZ 3200
GPU: 1080 FTW PSU: EVGA SuperNova 1000P2 / EVGA SuperNova 750P2  SSD: 512GB Samsung 950 PRO
HD: 2 x 1TB WD Black in RAID 0  Cooling: Custom cooling loop on CPU and GPU  OS: Windows 10

Try max out the power limit and enable VSR in Radeon Setting so you can run the benchmark in 1080p.

It'll render in 1080, no matter what the resolution is set to.

The biggest thing that's going to hold that system back, is the CPU.....I doubt he's able to see much in the way of FPS gains without some serious overclocking on that CPU.

Is it?

Yeah that is some serious bottleneck.
