Rolex question

I don't see how it's possible for someone to walk into a shop and spend £4000 on a watch whilst if they take a 10-minute walk they'll find people struggling to feet their kids, people being evicted, people in effective slavery because they can't improve their circumstances and are stuck in minimum-wage jobs.

Don't think jealousy is the way to put it. Ever heard of socialism?

Jealousy isn't the driving force of socialism, it's the desire to give everyone a fair chance in life, the desire to allow everyone to have enough to live productive, meaningful lives.

What have you done for those same starving people? What makes you think that people who spend big bucks on expensive watches or cars or whatever don't donate significant time and money to charity? What gives you the right to criticize anyone, especially when this topic is fairly apolitical and harmless? I venture to guess that customers of Rolex donate more money to charity than you and 10m of your kind.

Please take your socialist propaganda elsewhere.

Judging from your previous post in the thread called "Is Vancouver actually that expensive to live in?" (as well as this one), I'd say you're extremely jealous of other people's financial success. What a shame... I suppose you're right to a certain extent though. People will always measure your success/status by the types of clothes you wear, car you drive, and the sq ft of your house.

I need some help on determining the price difference between the full steel and the steel and white gold versions of the Rolex datejust 36mm. I don't need exact pricing just an estimate. :)

I would never invest in a Rolex. I prefer the Japanese Seiko brand. Rolex is way to overpriced. The cheapest entry model is around 3k and it is astonishingly basic. Rolex is too much of a brand. Seiko is better engineering excellence for the dollar. Personally, the only cheapest, desirable Rolex starts at 20k. When Seiko Astron is much better IMO

I would estimate the cheapest white gold rolex will run around 7k all the way over 32k. It depends on the line.

Referring to the datejust standard steel timepiece alone, it will cost around 5-6k minimum, but this is not particularly difficult to find out...

I do more than my fair share. It's also worth saying that it's not about the magnitude of your donations or if you donate at all but the morals behind your donation, how much the donation meant to you. The super rich can afford to toss a couple of million somewhere whereas I'd struggle to put together a couple of hundred.

Why does it matter to you that I find the prices of Rolexes abhorrent? The first person to reply to this thread got no hate for also taking issue.

You call it socialist propaganda but I only introduced anything too political into this thread after I was called jealous.

Jack is completely right. Fake watches can look and feel almost EXACTLY like the real thing. And if they're more expensive like rolex, they can be even harder to tell the difference between a real and fake. An expert is basically the only way to get a true answer because most likely any watch enthusiast will be wrong.

Not necessarily. You understand there are serial numbers? There are simulated water depth tests you can do? There are a lot things that can be faked though, but ultimately if the watch is engineered up to par, then it would be worth thousands regardless of being fake.

Obviously, there are Chinese companies that exist solely for knocking off Rolex timepieces, but there are many common tattletale signs through production.

I'll never understand watch enthusiasts. With food, you can taste quality differences. With cars you get performance. With watches, a cheap Casio does the exact same thing as a hoity toity wrist accessory. Most people just glance at their phones briefly lol

Until it goes 100m under water. Until the sapphire face bumps against something sharp and doesn't scratch like a piece of plastic. Or when the solar panel in the face keeps it charged for literally forever vs. a battery that shorts or lasts 3 weeks.

I would have said that a couple of years ago but I now think that if everyone is given a chance to lead a prosperous life, they will do so.

Ideally, we would all get along and work together, you are correct. Ideally, we wouldn't need any laws.

With that said, I'll never understand grown men that watch anime/manga.

That is soooo true. I haven't figured them out yet. I will try to analyze the pyschological make up in a general way.

Adults that have not grown up and matured is my only reasoning but I am not a professional psychologist.

I like a good watch like anybody else, but will I spend 1 months wages on a wage, fuck no!
