I'll be honest, I really loved the physical feel of windows phones, and the os was easily more complete feeling than android. The only problem was that no app company seemed to be supporting them, and their parts were a little on the old side. If new phones come with modern parts, and better developer support, they could be a huge success. Deep inside, yeah, I guess I am kind of hoping they come out as a competitor to iOS and Android.:P

I can't be the only one who would love to see Microsoft come out with the Surface Phone and make it an even competitor with iOS and Andriod. Leave thoughts down below and let's make reasonable points to all sides.

Play nice and play fair!

Personally, I still see Windows Mobile (They change the name back to Windows Mobile) as the better OS of choice.  And the Lumia 950 and 950XL are just as top of the line phones as anything else out there (its the only octacore phone that doesn't have throttling issues)...

The only problem is apps, which for me, isn't a problem.  The only popular app that I can think of that isn't on Windows Phone is Snapchat... and its just MMS messaging over WiFi, not that exciting for me...

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

I'd like to know what "parts" you're talking about...  Because the Lumia 950 and 950XL are just as "flagship" as any other phone really.

I would not mind at all. Had one of the Lumia series and loved using it in conjunction with the other Windows PC's in the house and hospital.

So I just found out I've been using Win 8.1 Update 2 since today while my phone is 10 compatible. Now that this update has fixed the issues I had with Windows Mobile, It isn't that the OS is bad, it's the lack of popular mobile applications despite Microsoft offering software to convert apps that would be pocket change to many of these app makers.

I work for Microsoft and loved my Windows Phone.  But the apps were not there and even if they were it was like an afterthought.  Going to an iPhone or Android is a breath of fresh air.  Now when I look back our phones were a joke and even Microsoft sees that.  They'll probably keep it around and be like BlackBerry where they only cater for specialized use cases (i.e. Business, secure areas, etc.)  Everywhere else is lost.  If we do create a Surface Phone it should be on Android with our own custom launcher.

The problem here is support. Take Facebook the app is just rubbish unless you get the beta app then you get all the nee features but it opens very slowly and loads just as slowly.

all the basic apps are here Facebook, twitter,Spotify and all the shit games that come with android.

So long as Windows' Android OS doesn't require all 4GB of RAM to keep it from crashing like other manufacturers. Metro looks really good on Windows Phone, so seeing that on Android would be appreciated.

Using a Galaxy S6 (got it free from work, so no-brainer there). Used to have an iPhone. Loving the newer Windows phones.

But then again I am a below average user. I don't use social media, the most hardcore thing my phone needs to do is use whatsapp / telegram / mails / navigation. That's it. Gaming on phones is beyond me, when I got time to play I do it properly, but than again I'm 38 years old thinking about the wife and the house and the cat, might have been another story 20 years ago ...

That's what did me in somewhat as the mobile medical records program I needed wasn't available on Windows phone.

Who knows. Maybe the cost of supporting it wasn't worth the time or perhaps the program didn't work well.

I currently use an Oppo R9 and it runs as smooth as silk.  I have some core apps always running and close down the unnecessary ones that I don't need to have open.  I used this practice on WindowsPhone and my iPhone as well.  I think all the platforms suffer from memory saturation issues.

idk, it does suck though. Maybe we'll see something in 2017, due to all the Surface products that came out recently

Basically a moot point when you use the internet since every website advertises to you.

Android is essentially the XP x64 of the mobile world. Sucking up all that RAM for... Sorry, it crashed.

Security and privacy are two different subjects. Also when it comes to privacy, collecting telemetry which is anonymized to make the product better is hardly a breach of privacy or security.

Windows phone will only make a true comeback if its a true x86 Windows platform in your pocket.

At that point the whole plethora of x86 applications from the last few decades will roflstomp the apps available for iOS and Android combined.

Microsoft won't need to make apps because they are all already there...

Handheld PCMR device

As if only it was that easy. Mobile Apps have their place as do PC Apps. There is a reason I don't use a Surface Pro device because when I'm in Windows I don't to use touch. When I want a touch experience it's for consumption and light contribution and this where Android and iOS are just better implemented.
