Hello hello,

I am planning to put together a new pc for myself.

It will be used mostly for gaming.

Can some of you guys check it out and let me know what you think? please.

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/bobbagels/saved/bPKXLk

I have a large PSu in there for further expansion in the future, plus compared to a 1000 W PSU the extra cost is minimal (i think)

I welcome all comments and suggestions.

I would like to place the order right after the new year.

Consider going X99, especially if going SLI as well as having PCIe m.2 SSDs.

The 6700K only supports 24 PCIe lanes, while the 6800K can do 28 and the 6850K can support 40.

New Build (The Compromise): CPU - i7 9700K @ 5.1Ghz Mobo - ASRock Z390 Taichi | RAM - 16GB G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 3200CL14 @ 3466 14-14-14-30 1T | GPU - ASUS Strix GTX 1080 TI | Cooler - Corsair h100i Pro | SSDs - 500 GB 960 EVO + 500 GB 850 EVO + 1TB MX300 | Case - Coolermaster H500 | PSUEVGA 850 P2 | Monitor - LG 32GK850G-B 144hz 1440p | OSWindows 10 Pro.

Peripherals - Corsair K70 Lux RGB | Corsair Scimitar RGB | Audio-technica ATH M50X + Antlion Modmic 5 |

CPU/GPU history: Athlon 6000+/HD4850 > i7 2600k/GTX 580, R9 390, R9 Fury > i7 7700K/R9 Fury, 1080TI > Ryzen 1700/1080TI > i7 9700K/1080TI.

Other tech: Surface Pro 4 (i5/128GB), Lenovo Ideapad Y510P w/ Kali, OnePlus 6T (8G/128G), PS4 Slim.

I would stick with the 6700k. Better for gaming at higher clock speeds. I mean x99 was made for workstations,

My recommendation is to save money from items that will give you little to no benefit and put it towards things that will.  The list looks pretty good.  I would make the following changes:

  • I would change the RAM since the higher bandwidth provides little to no benefit in gaming.  DDR4-2400 or even DDR4-2133 is good enough.
  • Also what is your requirements for the motherboard?  Any features that you are looking for in particular.  I generally stick with the Asus Z170-A motherboard since it's a good all rounder with no frills.  Another great one is EVGA's Z170 boards.

Still it looks good.

Difference is virtually unnoticeable after an overclock, especially if OP is going to game at 4K+ or multi-monitor in the future.

Heck, some games will be GPU bound at 1440p/165, even with 1080 SLI.

That build is rathr expensive, if you have a microcenter consider shopping for some of your parts there. I have had a great experience so far and they have some really great end of the year deals going on, the only draw back is limited supply and its a lot of in-store pickup only options.

I tend to stay with the 68's. I seemed to have problems with x99's recently.

Will this be a problem with the load out I have planned now?

PS- I do not plan on 4K just yet.

As of now, no it won't. If you go SLI along with having at least one PCIe m.2 SSD with the 6700K, the cards will operate at PCIe 3.0 x8 speeds instead of 16.

No significant difference between x8 and x16, but since you're dropping 4k on your build, I can guarantee you will not be happy about that limitation.

I dont plan on SLI, Actually I might hold out until the 1080 Ti . I am a big fan of one good video card. Plus the game I usually play does not support any SLI profiles.

But I am getting a little confused.

If I dont plan on 4K or SLI, Just one good 1080 Ti, will this build work?

I already have a 5930K  thats screaming fast.

I just wanted to put together another kick arse machine.

If you want to wait for the 1080 TI, that's probably the best decision.

The 1080 TI should handle the majority of games at 1440p/165 ultra settings, except for the absolute most demanding titles atm (ROTTR, Watch Dogs 2, Deus Ex, etc).

And since you don't want to SLI, then go with the 6700K.
