? are you saying download it onto my ssd?

You must create a Steam Library folder onto the hard drive, and then add that folder in the Downloads option within Steam.

I just recently built my pc with a 250gb ssd and a 1tb hard drive, making sure to (and told by who was helping me build it) install the os (Win 10) on the ssd, for the amazing boot time, and plug in the hard drive after this whole process. I got the hard drive allocated and everything, and went to download steam as my first priority. I want Steam to be downloaded on the hard drive, but when I select the hard drive it has zero files on it, and of course the system files are on the ssd, so how do I download anything on my hard drive now?

How do I do that? And will that be the case with all of my downloads?

When you have Steam open, at the top of the window, you should see an option labeled "Steam." Click on that, and then click on "Settings." Click on "Downloads" next, and click on "Steam Library Folders." You should be able to add your hard drive from here.

When downloading something from the Steam store, you will be prompted to give a location on where you would like the media to go, along with the ability to create a new location if desired.
