restoration New build/restoration recommendations

I just got a Asus gtx 1060 6Gb for Christmas to help me rebuild an old PC I've had lying around. 

 

I currently have the following: 

• GPU: Asus GTX 1060 6GB 
• CPU: Intel i5-2300 Quad-core CPU (LGA 1155)
• RAM: Kingston 4Gb DDR3 (Single DIMM & 2 x 2gb DIMM)
• PSU: Ci-Power 550W 
• Case: Antec 900 mid-size
• HDD: Hitachi 500GB
• DVD ROM
• CPU Cooler: Stock

 

My remaining budget is about $500 Canadian. I'm looking for a i5 6600k and a new motherboard and DDR4 ram. Don't care about frills or looks as long as it does the job.

 

I know my PSU sucks but I would prefer not to replace it just yet and I'd like to get a CPU cooler at some stage but that can also wait. 

 

I'll use the PC mostly for gaming and my girlfriend will use it for Video editing and 2D animation.
