Please, Someone settle this. Ive been tossing over a ton of different suggestions and Im about to just say screw it and grab the M40x. I do not produce music. I want headphones for pure music enjoyment with some gaming and occasional movie viewing as its main aspects. I listen to Harder rock, Metal, Rap/hip hop and a bit of EDM and do prefer a bit of bass. But I want quality sound and intense bass is not needed if it will ruin the mids and highs.

Beyer DT770 pro would be great for you, closed back, good bass, nice sound stage, very very immersive for movies and games. M50X is over rated and DT770 will win against it anytime of the day

We have kinda similar taste in music, it checks all the boxes there.

DT990 also would be nice, its open back, have reasonable bass but sharp trebles. Its $125 in amazon last i checked, good deal.

You can listen to the sound demo from Z-reviews on youtube, just dont watch his reviews tho, not that credible imo :P

Thanks guys, Sadly I should have mentioned I meant Canadian Dollars. Which puts the 770s and hd588s out of my price range, Are the ATH m50x really that much better then the m40x? I watched a lot of videos with many claiming the m40xs sound better. The m50xs are also 200 Canadian compared to the m40x at 140.  Also should have mentioned I prefer closed back.

I would stick to the 40x rather than 50x, similar sound signature but with less bass.

I would just get the Status Audio CB-1s for $79:

Unlike the M40x, these headphones come with proper pads. And they're awesome.

I can personally say that he m50x's are fantastic for the money, another option are the sennheiser hd-598's but they can be a bit tougher to drive.

Edit: noticed you meant Canadian dollars

Hello to all,

Acquiring the most costly headphones you can pay for doesn't mean you will be very pleased with them, particularly if you use them as you go jogging or training at the fitness center. At the same time, in the event you operate in a silent atmosphere for example house, you certainly have no need for noise cancelling ones.

Make sure to take into consideration your finances plus your true requirements when you purchase the headphones. Using this method you will not spend more for features you do not have the need for and can certainly get the very best headphones under 100.

Inform us if you have a few other tips about buying the very best headphones for your needs.

In my humble opinion. M50x's suck. After owning a pair i sold them. Then i saw this review which basically says everthing about how i feel about them WHICH NO OTHER YOUTUBER/REVIEWER TALKS ABOUT.

Most youtubers who have covered these don't know anything about headphones.

This includes Marques Brownlee who has reviewed them and Jayztwocentz who uses them as his dailydriver.

I use AKG702's as my dailys. They are open back and very comfortable with amazing soundstage.

I use my Beyerdynamic DT770's for when i want to feel more isolated as they are closed backs. They also have a deeper bass to them.
