Hey Everyone,

So i made my first build about two to three years ago and i want to do some upgrades. Currently my specs are :
Asus  M5A99X EVO R2.0

AMD FX - 6300

Viper Patriot DDR3 1600 2 x 8GB

Samsung 840 EVO SSD 500 GB

Gigabyte GTX 660 (Getting GTX 1060 6gb for Christmas)

I'd like to switch over to Intel but have some questions first since i'm no where near knowledgeable enough. So First off i know i need to get a new Mobo and CPU to make the switch and I'd like to upgrade my RAM, I also already picked up a GTX 1060 6gb for Christmas.

Computer uses : Mainly Gaming, Id like to get high 1080p performance and possibly in the future 4K Video for movies and such. Also i don't plan on overclocking and such.

My questions are:

with a CAD$800 budget what would be the best Mobo, Cpu and Ram to get ?

Could i keep my current SSD and just move it over + would i have to fresh install windows with new parts, or will there be issues with it?

The parts i was looking at are :

MSI H110M Gaming Motherboard LGA 1151 - $104.99

Intel Core i7-6700 8M Skylake Quad-Core 3.4 GHz LGA 1151 - $469.99

HyperX Fury 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 2133 RAM - $144.99

Other Parts in current PC

NZXT Phantom 530

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

Crosiar CS750M

Thanks, and any advice would be greatly appreciated

Nick.

Don't think about switching just yet. Wait for Zen- it might offer much better value than Intel's current lineup.

If you're going to do a platform swap then don't be alarmed if Windows decides to deactivate itself. Retail editions of Windows generally won't but most people buy OEM copies which will expire themselves if you move one drive with Windows installed on it to another motherboard or if you try to use the same product key while installing Windows on a new system.

That said, your upgrade plans seem solid.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
