Which Cpu cooler?

Hell,

I'm stuck trying to find a CPU cooler for the NZXT s340 case

which one do you think is better in your opinion the NZXT Kraken x31 or DeepCool Captain 240 EX White

or do you suggest a different cooler?

 

CPU: i7 4790 (can't overclock)

Motherboard: Asrock B85M-HDS

You have a cpu you can't oc. Might as well use the stock cooler or a get something cheap like a 212 or a c7. Lower temps won't help your

@Electronics Wizardy is correct. You will be just fine using the stock intel cooler with the 4790 chip.

I'm having cooling problems with the stock cooler so I'm trying to get a new cooler

Stock should be fine. What problems?

What type of problems? As long as your chip is staying under 80c under load, you are fine.

Well its mainly with rendering, when using Vegas Pro 5 mins into rendering it reaches 100c

its likely that with it being a few years old and stock, the paste is likely dry. Try doing a repaste on it and test temps.

if you have the dough to throw at it, the i7 4770 in my server is being cooled by a noctua NH-D9L since the stock cooler died and it's making me consider putting noctua in all my future builds

Alright, assuming then that you applied it correctly, get yourself a budget oriented cooler like the Hyper 212 evo or Cryorig H7. Sticking a water cooling solution on a non overclocked chip is wasted money.

if OP has the budget to buy a watercooler, there's much better things than a hyper 212 evo in terms of structural rigidity and "not looking like a cheap piece of junk"

 

and i mean, it's not like a D9L is much more expensive anyways

I mean, the X31 is a single 120mm and the Deepcool is 2 120mms, of course the Deepcool is higher performance.
