i5 6600k cpu overclock

hi guys just a quick message,ive recently built a new pc with the unlocked i5 6600k cpu.ive got a really decent cooler,the deepcool captain 240x which i doing a nice job with the cooling.ive overclocked the cpu to 4.9ghz and it seems to be stable.is there any way to make sure ive done it right and that i wont damage the cpu in any way.some advice would be great,thanks

If the PC doesnt crash, its all good.

Damaging the CPU is more common with really, really dumb oc's. Of course you will wear the CPU down a bit faster, but shouldnt be noticeable.

 

To see if its done properly (that the speed is available to use), CPU-Z should tell you the speed in which it runs at.

Theory is when you know everything but nothing works. Practice is when everything works but you dont know why. In this computer, theory and practice are combined: Nothing works and i dont know why.

 

Atleast i can manage Some things, like my current OC personal best.

I would run a stress test for at least 3 hours to ensure it's stable. Ideally you would want to run a test for 12-48.

As long as it is kept below 1.4 then you're good to go. I would say to stress test for about 12 hours. You shouldn't use it intensely for more than 12 hours, unless you're rendering video, ect.

Up to 1.45 is fine. If the chip is delided even 1.5V is fine.
