So yesterday I was playing modded COD: WAW zombies with some friends, and then the internet on my computer just cut out. I was on WiFi (it's slightly faster than ethernet for some reason) and when I closed the game there was literally no internet on the device. I then plugged in an ethernet cord and that worked but here's the problem. Windows refuses to accept that it has internet in settings, it says I am disconnected, Edge and Cortana can't connect to the internet, but every other non-Windows program can. I am writing this post on chrome so there definitely is internet and Discord works fine. Here is what some Windows says:

Another weird thing is that in the bottom right in the taskbar, there isn't the internet or sound volume button. So I have to go to control panel whenever I want to use my speakers too.

I am using the Asus M4a97r2.0 motherboard for ethernet and the TP-Link Archer T9e for Wifi. I have reinstalled drivers for both and that has done nothing. Any suggestions?

Well if Windows can't see the card, and he option of wifi is not available, that tells me that the wifi card is dead.

Ok, Windows still recogizes that the card exists but that might not mean anything. I'll test the card in another PC sometime today. But that still doesn't explain why ethernet is not working for Windows.

If plugging in directly into your mobo still does not work that tells me 2 things could possibly be wrong.

The motherboard is dying

or

your router needs to be checked out.

It could also be both of those things.

But all my non-Microsoft programs still have internet. I'm typing this message on chrome on the computer that is having this issue. I don't think it is a hardware problem, I think there is something in Windows that is messed up. I just can't figure out what it is.

What about drivers?

@SCGazelle Did the card come with a disk of any kind?

Have you ran the network troubleshooter?

I already had the drivers installed from the TP Link website. I reinstalled them today too

Then I have no idea. Remove the wifi card and see what that does.

If not then reinstall Windows......

the need for Windows reinstalls seems to be very high ever since Windows 10......
