1st build noob questions

Sperdoge

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WzjkHN

Above is my 1st build that I am planning to complete during the month of January, but first I had some questions for more experienced builders, I wanted to know if the Noctua NH-D15 would interfere with the G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory as it is a large CPU cooler. I was also planning on waiting to buy a graphics card and I would like to play Skyrim, CIV V, and Space engineers on integrated graphics, how realistic would that be? I would appreciate it if you had any input on my build to point out flaws or possible improvements. Thanks for your time!

P.S. I am also planning on buying a hard drive later. :D

If you really can't afford an expensive GPU buy a GTX 1050Ti 4GB instead of using the intergrated graphics.

So you are not planning on buying ANY GPU? That is very unrealistic and the rest of the build is WAY overkill for integrated graphics, GPU should ALWAYS cost more than the CPU.

Also, as someone that owns a NH-D15, yes, it will. My second fan is above the ram so it sticks out 1 ½ inch compared to where it should be. That case is also very small for something as large as a NH-D15, ihttps://www.amazon.co.uk/quiet-BG002-Quiet-Silent-Tower/dp/B00PK419CO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1482167047&sr=8-2&keywords=silent+base+800 ) and i cannot even get my hand above the cooler.

You'll get around 40fps for both games on high. A little more if you bump down the settings.

You don't need to buy thermal paste, it's included with the cooler.

Your RAM. You don't mix red and orange (mobo colors).

Are you super attached to that case? Looks super plain. The S340 is only $1 more ;)

If you don't plan on sleeving cables get a Seasonic G 550w PSU instead.

Don't bother adding more fans to the case, they're not needed.

Drop the fans and the WiFi card and buy a motherboard with integrated WiFi.

Are you just gaming? You likely don't need an NVMe drive. Get a larger capacity SATA. Also the 950 overheats.

How far "down the line" do you plan on getting the GPU?

Looks like a solid build, just needs some tweaks.

This should have been in the New Builds and Planning subforum. Please check for subforums in the future before posting something.

Welcome!! :)

Believe it or not, HD530 is pretty strong. The games he's playing don't really require a ton of power, so he'd be more than capable of playing those and many other titles at a good clip.

No, a GPU shouldn't always cost more. There are loads of games that can be run on iGPUs. Dota, CS, Diablo, even the ones he listed. If someone just plays League? Shouldn't buy a GPU at all.

Yeah okay if its league, skyrim, Civ V and space engineers are not league. And i doubt those are the only games he will be playing for the next 3 years, but since he says he will get one eventually its fine, if was never going to get one he might as well get an i3 6100 or something and spend the extra money on a GPU, that would give him more fps.

this would be my suggestion. No need for a i7 unless you will be rendering stuff, the H7 is a very good cooler and would allow for a fair bit of OCing. and your storage would be much better in my mind as i have it. also the 1060 is a good card for what all you would be doing

I already like you for not putting 212 evo.

(btw the H7 already comes with thermal paste)

i was going to say a H60 but i think that would be a bit much for this. (i like AIOs over air coolers personally but there is a time and place)

Right, but he is planning to get one. So your argument is pointless. Fact is his games are playable with HD graphics while he waits, which is what he asked.

Actually there have been some pretty substantial gains shown with an i7 in gaming in DX12. So for the sake of longevity it makes sense.

Here's some food for thought.

Cheaper, a case that shows off your internals, and an SSD with double the capacity.

EDIT: I missed Windows, so it's only a little cheaper.

Do you have anything against smaller coolers? They're much cheaper, and it opens up cheaper case options.

As an owner of a NH-D15, that case is laughable, combine that cooler with just a decent sized GPU and getting a hand inside that case would be impossible. My full tower silent base 800 is too small! That one is 10 cm smaller in length and height!

You don't have to quote the whole post. If it's long, snip it for the sake of the space it takes up.

It's a large cooler. How often do you need to dig around in the case? Not often.

I had the D15 in an Antec P180, and it was perfectly fine. I'm sorry to hear you have so much trouble with yours.

I took a bit from each of your posts and put this together.

Now to answer a few of your questions

I was planning on buying a GPU withing 3 months after the Vega chipsets come out, maybe a 1060 or rx480 depending on what I need.

I work in the purchasing division of a company which requires me to wait for 15 - 20 minutes processing excel files on my laptop and is one of the reasons that I would like to have a desktop to speed these processes up. (Gaming is just a side-hobby which is why I don't feel it is necessary to purchase a graphics card quite yet.

I went with the liquid cooler that was suggested because it was easier for me to know if it would fit than the previous NH-D15. Just worried about leaks which is why i would rather go with an air solution.
