Lost my headphone lately.... Does anyone listen to music while swimming???

I wanna buy a waterproof headphone, but I have no idea what it will sound like when I am in water.... So can someone who actually used it tell me is it a gimmick or it is actually doable and enjoyable when you can listen to music under water. Just wanted to know.

I know sony make some of the water proof headphones, are they good???

And for the record I can't even hear my coach yelling at me when I am in the water... how am I supposed to actually listen to music while I am (in and out of water) swimming????   =.=

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

I'd guess that waterproof headphones would sound pretty bad once they get wet, since it'd be harder for them to produce sound.

It's doable, there are some consumer budget friendly earbuds that are sold for people to use while swimming.  Audio will not be different, or that different, as the earbuds are in-ear.  There are also underwater headphones for scuba divers, however these are designed to be used with full face masks.

Here is an example of a swimming headset.  This one has the music player integrated, there should be models that connect to the music player wirelessly, either placed next to the pool or strapped to your body.

Also, sound travels fairly well underwater.  I've done scuba dive training in pools while there were people playing loud music above the water, I could hear the music while underwater fairly well.

Really? I'd assume since it travels faster everything would sound higher

Nope, sound traveling faster does not necessarily mean it changes the pitch.  During one training dive in a pool, I kept wondering why someone wasn't answering their phone... until I remembered it was the music coming from the stereo of the swimming team who was training in the same pool as us.

With a wireless and waterproof headphone, you would have problems with signal (when you are underwater, of course), unless the antenas are very good

Yes while it is true that wireless signals will have trouble traveling distance underwater, the wireless headsets designed for swimmers do not have to travel much distance in the water as most swimmers swim on the surface or just below it if they are doing apnea.  If the wireless music player is placed next to the pool, the signal may have to travel several meters in the air but doesn't have to penetrate the water that much.  If the music player is worn around the arm, the signal has to travel less than a meter.  However I don't have experience with these wireless headsets for swimmers myself, so I cannot speak for the quality of the signal.  I'm only saying they exist.
