I just need to get my ideas out because anyone I talk to outside of this forum has no idea what I am talking about.

On newegg the Athlon 860K is on sale and I want to buy this as an upgrade to my current CPU (AMD A4 7300). I know it is an old/dying/dead socket but it's one of my solutions.

The other thing I can do is begin doing a whole system upgrade. Starting with a pentium g4400 with a z170 board then upgrading the CPU later.

I want to play Battlefield 1 at an acceptable frame rate (40-50 fps on medium I guess). Just because I listed an Intel option, that does not mean that you say Intel only, intel is better and what not. I need this to be a "bang for the buck" thing.

Thank you all.

Quick edit: I am going out for dinner, I'll check back soon. (like in 10-20 minutes)

I would go with intel because it's a more upgrade friendly path you know with kaby lake on z170 or wait for ryzen and upgrade then

Hes trying to follow his current upgrade path. Are yopu going to tell him next time he want to update to switch to another for a better upgrade path? And thats a great choice OP.

What are your specs and budget?

If you're going with a new platform, it'd be better to get something better than a G4400 that you'd want to upgrade from asap.

Specs:

A4 7300

MSI Grenade A68H Motherboard

8gb of RAM

GTX 950

I just decided to continue to wait, see what new things come out in early 2017. Hope that the mid range Ryzen chips come out soon after the high end ones because of rumors saying that is how its going to go.

Honestly, 860K since BF1 likes more cores. Either that or go Z270 and a cheap Skylake used Pentium or I3 since Cannonlake will work on Z270 down the line.
