Metrize

What's a good laptop for university? I need it to have top specs the lower the price the better. I've been looking at Dell xps?

No Apple

Need to be able to play casual games (FM 16, league csgo dota)

... That would be horrible for Uni.

OP, Dell XPS is a good series, if it fits your budget then go for it.

Dell XPS 15 is the best laptop I can recommend. It's like a Macbook Pro for Windows enthusiasts.

Now I wouldn't go that far.

The XPS line has a good reputation, but I'd be amazed if they were better than ThinkPads.

What about this?

It seems like a top specs and cheaper than the xps. Does an i5 have much difference to an i7 in laptops?

This one even has a 4k screen

http://m.dell.com/mt/www.dell.com/uk/business/p/inspiron-15-7566-laptop/pd?oc=bn56603&model_id=inspiron-15-7566-laptop

CPU and GPU is far from the only thing that matters when you talk price. Dell has cut a lot of corners with that laptop to get it down to that price.

The CPU question, that comes down to what you do, if you only game then a i5 is more than enough for a 960m, but if you do some sort of rendering or editing, then the i7 will be much better

If you are interested in the Dell XPS 15 (which I totally recommend), it might be worth while to wait just a bit longer. The Dell XPS 15 9360 should be coming out very soon, probably early-mid January from what I've heard. The refreshed model will feature the new 7th generation Kaby Lake processors which is a bit of an improvement, but most importantly will feature a desktop grade Geforce GTX 1050 GPU. It sounds like they are going to be quite a bit superior performance-wise to the current 9350 model.

Desktop - CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x | COOLER: be quiet! Dark Rock 3 | MOBO: ASRock X370 Killer SLI/ac | RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz | GPU: MSI RTX 2070 Super Gaming X Trio | STORAGE: 2x XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB, Crucial MX300 525gb, Seagate Barracuda Pro 4TB | CASE: Phanteks P400s TG White | PSU: Corsair HX750i

Laptop - Dell XPS 13 | Intel i7 7500u | Intel HD 620 Graphics | 8GB RAM | 256GB M.2 SSD

Peripherals - KEYBOARD: KBD67 Lite w/Gateron Milky Yellow Pros | MOUSE: Razer Deathadder V2 | AUDIO: Sennheiser HD 6XX, Truthear Hexa | MONITOR: Dual 1440p 27" MSI Optix MAG274QRF-QD
