Should I go for a 1440p monitor?

running 1440p will require a pretty beefy GPU. notably a 1070 or better. though a 1080 or better will do wonders at 1440p in every title and for some time. but since you mention you want freesync the only 1440p AMD card available atm is the fury X (though the 4GB VRAM may hold things back) or the 480. the 490 is a possibility but it is still a rumored card.

I am building a $600-700 PC, and I would like to get a 1440p monitor. I haveven't picked the parts yet because I am waiting for AMD zen. Is it worth it? Freesync is a must.
