Heres is why boot time sucks on MAME PC

Here are specs-

M5A78L-M LX PLUS Asus motherboard BIOS 1501

FX-8150

16 GB CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10 Memory running @ 1600 MHz

Hitachi HDT721032LA380 320GB Hard Drive for OS

Toshiba DT01ACA100 1TB for Storage

Radion HD 7970 GPU

Problem is Primary hard drive for OS. 320 GB with 8 MB Buffer Cache.

The Toshiba is very responsive with 1 TB of space and 32 MB Cache.

8 MB of HDD cache  is slow as hell. this does not utilize anything that the machine can do. This accounts for load times of 25 minutes or more with Windows 10. Once everything is loaded the machine is snappy.

Even new Seagate 2.5 inch 1 TB HDD portable hard drive is faster. I took one apart and plugged drive in to SATA . extremely responsive. 128 MB Cache 5200 RPM. Loaded windows 10 faster. than Hitachi.

I think that I'll just get a Samsung SSD. I only need 256 GB SSD for Primary Drive. 512 may be better. I have a PC is kind of like this one, but with Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB SSD. It boots in like a minute and a half or faster.

320 GB w/ 8 MB Buffer Cache may be OK for Documents, PDFs, Music folders, but probably not more than that. After that it's slow  as hell. It's old. Like from 2005 or before. That came installed in my Compaq CQ 5110. SATA /SATA 2 era.

HDD does not go with other technology.

If you will note that disk C Active Time is 100 percent. also slow as hell.
