I would personally get a 1060 3 GB at that budget. It performs better in general. The only reason I see to get a 480 is if you have a Free-Sync monitor and/or you mainly play Vulkan/DX12 games. Do you already have a monitor?

In the video he literally states, that the 1060 6gb and 480 8gb are about equal, whereas the 4gb 480 is faster than the 3gb 1060. Don't bring your own bias into equation.

You might be misunderstanding me. 4GB will introduce stutter when playing the AAA games, so if 8GB is not an option, the 470 is the better option of the 2 (save over 10% and still get about 95% of the performance).

But he also said that in 2015 titles performance hasn't changed, so the 1060 3GB might be a better bet. It all comes down to the price of the cards and the games that you play...

I don't know, I'll try to look it up. But most likely, since it's a shit port.

I haven't seen people complain about stuttering in GTA 5 with a 980 or 970 though. Keep in mind that memory compression technology helps out.

Well, if you really like GTA V which you will play, because Rockstar will not launch GTA 6 any time soon, the 1060 is a much better bet, as it gives you an FPS advantage of more than 10 fps. Btw, you don't know how they will fair in the future... If many Nvidia sponsored games are launched, they won't perform better on an AMD card

I completed GTA 5 and will never touch it again (don't assume).

Oh I can definitely tell how both of these cards will fair in the future. Took 6 months to close down from 10% to 2%, another 6 months and the 1060 has been passed.

It isn't rocket science, AMD has great lasting ability, whereas Nvidia likes to nerf and ditch the optimization down the line.

No.... When Nvidia sponsors a title, it makes sure that it runs as shit as possible on AMD. Therefore, if Nvidia decides to sponsor many titles, they will perform like crap on AMD GPUs.

As for GTA V, the fact that you don't play  it doesn't mean that no one else does. It is a very popular game and it performs better on Nvidia...

That's a great reason to stop buying Nvidia cards, wouldn't you agree?

But fact of the matter is that all future games, whether AMD or Nvidia sponsored, will most likely run equally, or better on AMD cards.

It might be for you, but you don't discard a company because of its business practices... If Nvidia performs better in the games that you play, then you get Nvidia. If AMD performs better, then get AMD. Shopping by brand is absolute bullshit.

But if you look at the benchmarks the 1060 is almost always 5+ fps faster. I am not an Nvida fanboy if that's what you think.

No, I just said, that Nvidia performs better in most DX11 games and mostly in 2015 titles and especially in GTA V. AMD performs better in DX12 and Vulkan. Do you consider that fanboyism?

This was a great answer and no, this way definitely not. But the way you bring GTA 5 into the mix makes be dubious.

And I'd like to remind you that as the trend seems to be, the 480 will be a better card.

No, look at the conclusion.

I'm using the video for the benchmarks as they seem to be the most recent, not for his opinion. Honestly it really depends on what games OP is playing and what monitor he has. If he doesn't have a monitor then an RX 480 paired with a 130$ 75 Hz Free-Sync monitor would be the best option.

I never said it wasn't an issue. I said that would come down to drivers. The 480s memory compression is just as good as maxwell's. Although the 4GB 480 has slower stock VRAM too. It would be nice to see people who have 4GB cards to tell us how it performs with new drivers.

For fucks sake, the conclusion is the part where he shows every game on the same slide, watch the video before trying to sound smart.
