Hello LTT users!

My gaming mouse has not been working correctly the past week. It randomly stops working but the lights at the top are still lit. I have to unplug the mouse or ctrl alt delete to make it work again (sometimes it works). I tried to switch USB 3.0 port to another one but it made no difference.

Do you think my mouse if faulty or is it the motherboard?

Btw is it better to plug your mouse into a USB 3.0?

Edit: I just relised that my mouse was not plugged into a 3.0 port and it was actually plugged into my monitor ASUS ROG Swift PQ278. Still what do you think is the reason why it stops working?

I ran into an issue with a computer I built similar to this.  Whenever the mouse was plugged into a USB 3.0 hub, it would randomly disconnect for no reason.  As soon as we plugged it into port directly on the system it seemed to work fine.  We op'd for using the 2 USB 2.0 ports on the back of the system for mouse/keyboard, because... I mean they don't use much data. Might as well save them for high bandwidth.

TL:DR... Try to swap to a non-hub'd USB 3.0 port or a 2.0 Connection (Hub/No Hub for 2.0)

Thanks for your answer! btw do you know if its better to have your keyboard / mouse plugged into the monitor instead of the computer?

Only thing about a hub is introducing latency, supposedly. I don't run it through my keyboard because I could notice very small instances of it but this was a gaming mouse and regular keyboard like 10 years ago.

I don't plug anything into 3.0 beside my external 3.0 drives. Should make zero difference.
