Dedicated Physics card?

Good day dear reader

I wanted to get your opinions on my current situation....

 

I have a GTX970 and will be upgrading to a GTX1080 soon... I cant seem to decide if its better to sell the 970 or to keep it as a dedicated physics card, I watched some videos and I don't think it would really do much for game play but what I couldn't figure out is if this will help anything with video editing in Premier Pro and After effects. As far as I know these software are more CPU focused than GPU

Like the games, I'm sure Adobe After Effects doesn't use the Physx card's potential, but I might be wrong.

You should probably keep it, in case you want to build another PC.

Dedicated PhysX cards at best don't change anything (you don't really see much better effects), at worst you get lower performance (because the slower card bottlenecks the primary display adapter).

 

Either keep the card as a backup / for a different PC, or sell it IMO.

Depends on the game you're playing.  Most of the time, you won't see a difference.  Not many games out there that utilize PHYSX very well.
