In-Car Bluetooth (Audio)

Go to solution Solved by treeroy,

What about something like this? Just a Bluetooth receiver that plugs straight into the aux port. By the looks of it, it only needs to be charged, doesn't need to be always plugged in, so you could charge it overnight.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-Receiver-Portable-Microphone-Streaming/dp/B00Y29NXEA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1481619804&sr=8-3&keywords=bluetooth+aux

Also, you CAN use a USB power source, just buy a USB cigarette lighter plug, they only cost a fiver.

So, I have a 2010 Mini Cooper R56 which didn't come with Bluetooth or any USB ports. It does however have an AUX port and a 12V.

Basically, I just want to connect my phone to my car for playing music wireless. I'd prefer to be able to make phone calls and use voice recognition as well, but that's not necessary.

So far I've looked into using a Google Chromecast Audio, and the Belkin Caraudio Connect AUX.

The Google Chromecast Audio needs power from a USB which I don't have, and a WiFi network to connect to.

The Belkin Caraudio Connect AUX is exactly what I need, except it isn't any good judging from reviews (TechMoan) and is outdated.

Any ideas?

Is upgrading to a stereo that has bluetooth built in out of the question?

That's a great find! I'm going to do more research into that. Seems small and unobtrusive, i'll just have to find a nice flush 12V USB Adapter.

I don't really want to fiddle with the car that much, just looking for a quick solution.

I personally use this, it's such a handy little thing to have in your car:

My car is from 2002 so has no modern tech in it at all, but there are plenty of ways to make do. Just have to look around - or ask on internet forums like this haha. :)

I had this issue with by 2006 Renault Clio. The cheapest alternative is to get a mic and a 2 mic and headset adapter. It requires a lot of cable tidying but works

I'm in Australia so i'll just have to find something similar that's cheaper. Shipping is expensive on Amazon.com if you buy from Australia.

Well good luck anyways - I'm sure there are loads of USB car chargers in Australia too. Dunno where you guys get your shopping.
