Is the i3 6100 any good for gaming, and also i have been reading that the i3 6100 should be run with ddr4. .. should it?

It's on the lower side but it'll work. Most games rely on the graphics card.

It can be run with DDR3L, but DDR3L is more expensive than DDR4...

If you use regular DDR3 you may damage your memory controller...

Better wait for i3-7350K, it will work with Z1xx chipset motherboards
