I can't fold very often of my main PC for numerous reasons, mainly because someone is always playing games on it. I've been considering buying a Raspberry Pi and was just wondering if you can fold on them and if so, what sort of PPD are people getting? I'm not expecting much, just curious.

I wouldn't think that it would get decent PPD even if it could fold... I just don't see it...

Come fold while not gaming! http://linustechtips.com/main/forum/37-foldinghome-boinc-and-coin-mining/

The processor for Rasberry Pi is only 700 MHz. So I don't think you can get high PPD in folding. I am using a 1.7GHz processor and its PPD is around 100-400.

Because Pi uses an Arm cpu (A mobile cpu found in cell phones), It doesn't have a powerful enough FPU (or what ever is the equivalent is call) to handle the calculations need for F@H.

Also because F@H doesn't have a Core to run on a Arm cpu, it'll be impossible to run. Only Nvidia and Amd gpus, X86 cpu's (32 and 64bit), and (defunct) PS3 cell processor Core's have been made.

Sorry to be the downer of the group.

Not the downer of the group, just the most knowledgeable on the subject :)

By the way did any one else who read "Sorry to be the downer of the group" though it was meant is the sense of a slang word for someone with Downs' Syndrome? I sat there confused about what you meant.

I didn't even think of it as a slang...... Well, sorry it came out as such. Meant for it to mean such as "sorry to raining on your parade" type of effect.

Although I didn't think that "parade" fit with the thread so for some reason I thought of that was better.

Ya, I had looked into this when they were first released. But - on the horizon - x86 compatible PS4 WITH an AMD APU? Hmmm....
